Oval Blues:Perfect Hues of Blues…Shades completely  impossible to recreate by  man! Just as the Monarch that floats on the Unique, Hues of Oval  Blues!

Beauty is everywhere and nowhere, depending if our eyes are closed to the world, or wide-open, focused on our Planet! Our eyes are evolving to see only LCD screens! Real HD is simply, observing nature with your own two specially evolved eye balls!

Most of us walk around, blind to the specks of brilliance, all over our little worlds. Fluorescent lighting and computer screens have desensitized our visual acuity! We take for granted, which evolution and survival gave us… The most beautiful organs, the windows to the human psyche, the perfect, stunning human eyes! We think our natural world will always be there…BUT…at present, climate change and deforestation of the South American Rain-forests threaten many species and have already eradicated many other species!

Just because we can’t see South America and the Amazon from here, doesn’t mean we aren’t responsible. Sarah Palin may be able to see Russia from her house, but we can’t see the destruction and damage we are causing, to the whole planet, with our wasteful, ignorant, antiquated ways of manufacturing practices and our disregard for what top scientists have proven! How many more species will become extinct before we do? Science offers hope, if we start embracing science instead of war and religion. Religion and war do not mix with science and human advancement. We have recorded evidence of history repeating itself. Its time we listened to science and the experienced people in these scientific fields or we are going to lose more butterflies! Maybe after we lose US!

Here in America, we continue to eradicate nature, such as the Hemp plant this beautiful butterfly is perched on. Industrial Hemp has been legalized recently by our Federal Government but it still remains taboo to many people here in the U.S.A., which is traditionally, behind most other countries, even some third-world-countries! We can’t take care of our own, how are we going to preserve nature at its finest and most delicate?

Natures very definition is “the phenomena of the physical world collectively, including plants, animals, the landscape, and other features and products of the earth, as opposed to humans or human creations.” ~Websters Dictionary~.

To me, this definition infers that nature does NOT need us but we DO NEED NATURE! I mean, really how much science do we need to prove this titanium fact? Do human-beings really need to see the outcome of the current trauma? Humans are raping the planet! I don’t need an evolutionary biologist like Richard Dawkins to explain this simple concept…none of us do, except for the far right-wing republicans AKA the “tea-party”. This party does not believe in “climate change” or “global warming”. That’s going to make our next butterfly extinct!

These magnificent creatures are slowly disappearing…some not so slow. Scientific data already is proving that Monarch Migration is down 44%! Scientists report climate change is the main change but all of the pesticides, deforestation and greenhouse gasses are also dooming the Monarchs to extinction. Can you imagine a life without the Monarchs? I can’t. I’m a simple country boy, Monarchs always comforted me and I could count on the friendly little sprites to bring me luck and good fortune every year. I have noticed fewer and fewer every year! I had more hummingbirds this year than Monarchs in my garden!

How can we let this priceless, beautiful, biological artwork become extinct? We wouldn’t let our Constitution be destroyed. We wouldn’t let our Declaration of Independence bed destroyed. Why are we letting an evolutionary, biological piece of art like this rare butterfly, become extinct? I think it has to do with a hue…a hue of Green! Evil always has a good foundation in money! That’s how humans will become extinct someday too at the present rate we are going. Humans are too greedy and ignorant to evolve at this trajectory. Humans are doomed at the current destructive rate they are traveling at!

Beauty is fleeting, we all know this. Natural Beauty like this can be preserved though, with a complete change in our habits and our consumption. Humans have all become “Consumers” in the civilized countries of the world. I say “civilized” but are we really? America itself, is a huge consumer of war and military people and equipment. It is what Eisenhower warned of “the military machine” that is the U.S. President Eisenhower was right again!

Stinging…that was the immediate response, then came a bit of shock…not the kind of shock you die from, but the kind that shatters your heart. Weird thing is…I kinda liked it. Is that wrong? I felt ashamed of myself as the adrenaline coursed through my veins. I felt I didn’t deserve it, but I wanted it again…shame, doubt or am I perverse? Maybe I am a victim? Who would I tell? Because I still kinda liked the sting…that reminded me I was fully aware and alive.

The apparatus had a firm grip on my torso, squeezing ever so slightly. Slightly but consistently constantly. The girl across the way was already dead. Her bodily juices running down the machines mechanical, clawed hand and smacking the floor louder than machine-gun fire! New York, NY: A majority of US adults believe that the consumption of marijuana ought to be legal, according to the results of two nationwide polls released last week.A poll conducted by NBC and the Wall Street Journal found that fifty-five percent of American adults nationwide support legalizing marijuana. Nearly a quarter of the respondents said that while they do not personally agree with legalization, they would not actively seek to repeal laws approved by voters or state legislatures.The second poll, commissioned by CBS, found that fifty-one percent of respondents answered affirmatively to the question, “Should marijuana use be legal?” The percentage is the highest ever reported by the survey, which has been tracking public opinion on the issue since 1979 (when only 27 percent of adults endorsed legalization), and marks a six-point jump in support since the last time pollsters posed the question in April 2013.Forty-four percent of respondents in this poll opposed legalizing cannabis.Age, gender, and political affiliation influenced respondents’ opinions regarding legalization. According to the CBS survey data, a majority of all respondents under age 65 now support legalizing cannabis. Most men (57 percent), but not women (46 percent) back legalization. Most self-identified Democrats (59 percent) and Independents (54 percent), but not Republicans (35 percent) support making marijuana legal.Recently released nationwide surveys by Gallup and CNN also reported that a majority of Americans are now in favor of legalizing cannabis.When asked about their views on the therapeutic use of cannabis, 86 percent of respondents told CBS pollsters that physicians ought to be allowed to authorize marijuana use to their patients — an increase of 24 percent since 1997, when pollsters first began asking the question.Sixty-two percent of respondents also endorsed letting individual states rather than the federal government specify marijuana policies.The NBC/WSJ poll surveyed 800 adults from January 22-25 and has a margin of error of +/- 3.46 percentage points. Kurt Cobain and Me.

I just got off work…at Marine Corps Air Station New River, part of Camp Lejeune…I was a Lance Corporal in the Marines at the time. I was dirty, tired, smelled of gun powder, sweat and gun cleaning oil. I was more than ready to go home. The drive was about 15 minutes to base housing. I hopped in my shiny, metallic blue 66′ Mustang and hauled ass off base, shifting through the 3 gears like I was drag racing satan himself! The day was sunny, I was winning the race and I had the world at my young, finger-tips!

Satan had nothing on me that 5th day of April, 1994…I was young, feeling good and ready to jam to Nirvana!

Everybody that knew me, knew Nirvana was my favorite band of all time! All of my friends and family knew, without a doubt, that Nirvana, were my Beatles! Everyone within 5000 miles, KNEW, that Kurt Cobain was my John Lennon! I idolized him at that time…his cool, ripped up flannel-type of personality…a broken genius slacker…Mr. Generation X! An innovator, thinker, poet, artist, father, activist, couch potato, pot head, talented, idiot-savant, conversationalist,successful, loser, winner…I could go on with all of the contradictions that made him so beautifully unique as a fellow human-being.

I sped through the rear gate of the base…windows down and my Nirvana “Nevermind” CD blaring through my Mustang’s speakers! 289 V-8 engine roaring as I sped home on that perfect April day on the coast of North Carolina. I was young, fit, without a worry in the world, jammin to Nirvana and listening to every word Kurt sang, yelled, and whispered…All of that would change in a matter of minutes as I pulled into my driveway. When I pulled up, the neighbors were waiting for me…Then my neighbor said the unthinkable…

RIP Kurt Cobain of Nirvana

A piece of my identity died when Kurt died…my brother died…my mentor and friend…when I had NO other friends, I had Kurt!

“Kurt Cobain is DEAD!” He said in a monotone, low voice. I said “screw you, your just messin with me man!” and playfully shoved him. He looked at me again, as well as his young wife and said, “Emery, he is gone.” I didn’t even respond, I ran into my house and turned on the television to MTV…What I saw…I will never forget! It dropped me to my knees! I was in full USMC uniform and I dropped right down on my perfectly ironed Cammies and spit polished Combat Boots!

This is me, 20 years ago…warrior on the outside and peace activist on the inside. Kurt taught me about Peace and about bullshit! He taught me there is a lot MORE bullshit in America than there is PEACE! He ultimately taught me about my own mortality!

I had served my country as a Marine for the past 3 and a half years, during war, and never had this feeling in my gut before! I instantly understood something about my own dad…

I remembered at that time, kneeling in front of MTV, I remembered back to a very cold winter in 1980…a day in December. This would be the only day I saw my dad sob tears of utter sadness…The only day! The day that a man took another man’s life… The day John Lennon died. It shocked me to see a man like my dad cry. I didn’t know what to think…my dad was a soldier during Vietnam! He was a Tanker! He built everything with his own, meaty, hairy, powerful hands! Dad had the answer to everything…EVER. He was and still is the smartest man I know! Yet…there he lay, on my parent’s bed, sobbing in the darkness. Shards of light pierced the dimness, reflecting off the tears on his red cheeks…glistening as the tears soaked into his black, grizzly beard…

I finally understood why my dad cried some 14 years ago…and I cried! Sobbed! My idol…my voice…part of my identity, had blown his head off with a shotgun! A young man, like me… A young man with a wife and child, like me…A young man who did not believe in society’s bullshit…LIKE ME! A piece of me died on that day in April, 1994, as well. The piece of me that held to childish beliefs such as immortality! I was mortal instantly…Kurt Cobain was dead… I realized that even though I was a Marine, young, strong and healthy, I was mortal. Kurt taught me this in a way that seared the lesson in my brain…forever!

Kurt Cobain was my Bob Marley…My Jim Morrison…My John Lennon…He was Generation X!

Kurt Cobain was part of my personality…I shared his political views, even though I was a trained Marine Corps Killer…at heart, I wanted nothing to do with that! I embraced the idea of Peace over War…Just like Kurt! He was like my brother…my older brother that stuck up for me…that was a mentor to me! I knew we would do great things in our lives! I knew we would rally for the same ideals…I would like to believe that we still do…even though he is gone.

Rest in Peace Kurt! I love you buddy! I’ll see ya when my “cancer turns black”.

Everybody Favors Marijuana Legalization Except Elderly Republicans

This is me…Mr. Cannablogna! I am a Desert Storm Vet and the owner of this blog. I did my time for the government and ended up with PTSD, insulin dependent diabetes, anxiety, depression…was exposed to terrible conditions, brutality, war…Why can’t our elected officials HELP US! Medical Marijuana improves PTSD symptoms. It does not cause schizophrenia unless the person is already schizophrenic. Alcohol is flat deadly…the government doesn’t care about alcoholism!

Q.  Isn’t marijuana generally harmless?

No.  Marijuana is classified as a Schedule I drug, meaning it has a high potential for abuse and no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States. The main active chemical in marijuana is delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, more commonly called THC.  THC acts upon specific sites in the brain, called cannabinoid receptors, starting off a series of cellular reactions that ultimately lead to the “high” that users experience when they smoke marijuana.  Some brain areas have many cannabinoid receptors; others have few or none.  The highest density of cannabinoid receptors are found in parts of the brain that influence pleasure, memory, thinking, concentrating, sensory and time perception, and coordinated movement.

Marijuana’s “high” can affect these functions in a variety of ways, causing distorted perceptions, impairing coordination, causing difficulty with thinking and problem solving, and creating problems with learning and memory.  Research has demonstrated that among chronic heavy users these effects on memory can last at least seven days after discontinuing use of the drug.

These aren’t the only problems connected to marijuana use.  Research tells us that chronic marijuana use mayincrease the risk of schizophrenia in vulnerable individuals, and high doses of the drug can produce acute psychotic reactions.  Researchers have also found that adolescents’ long-term use of marijuana may be linked with lower IQ(as much as an 8 point drop) later in life.

We also know that marijuana affects heart and respiratory functions.  In fact, one study found that marijuana users have a nearly five-fold increase in the risk of heart attack in the first hour after smoking the drug.  A study of 452 marijuana smokers (but who did not smoke tobacco) and 450 non-smokers (of either marijuana or tobacco) found that people who smoke marijuana frequently but do not smoke tobacco have more health problems, including respiratory illnesses, than nonsmoker. ~This is completely untrue. 21st century methods including pill form, edibles, vaporizing…all much safer!~ This is all very, very dated information!

All that stated, a recent study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) found that low levels of marijuana use (with no tobacco use) produced no detrimental effect in lung function among study participants.  In fact, exposure led to a mild, but not clinically significant, beneficial effect—albeit among those who smoked only one joint per day.  While these findings have received wide attention from the media and from advocates of marijuana legalization, it is important to consider them in the context of the extensive body of research indicating that smoking marijuana is harmful to health.  Additionally, while the study did not include a sufficient number of heavy users of marijuana to confirm a detrimental effect of such use on pulmonary function, the findings suggest this possibility.

The harms of marijuana use can also manifest in users’ quality of life.  In one study, heavy marijuana users reported that the drug impaired several important measures of health and quality of life, including physical and mental health, cognitive abilities, social life, and career status.

Marijuana is the most commonly used illicit drug in the United States.  In 2011 alone, more than 18 million Americans age 12 and older reported using the drug within the past month.  Approximately 4.2 million people met the diagnostic criteria for abuse of or dependence on this drug.  This is more than pain relievers, cocaine, tranquilizers, hallucinogens, and heroin combined.

There are very real consequences associated with marijuana use.  In 2010, marijuana was involved in more than461,000 emergency department visits nationwide.  This is nearly 39 percent of all emergency department visits involving illicit drugs, and highlights the very real dangers than can accompany use of the drug.

And in 2011, approximately 872,000 Americans 12 or older reported receiving treatment for marijuana use, more than any other illicit drug.  Despite some viewpoints that marijuana is harmless, these figures present a sobering picture of this drug’s very real and serious harms.

Although alcohol, prescription drugs, alcohol and tobacco are not as serious because they are legal? Just because Tobacco is legal are there more people smoking? Actually the numbers have declined drastically…this is due to EDUCATION, which in my state of Kansas, drug programs are not affordable to the government due to the costs of running prisons and such! Representative Mitch Holmes Far Right Republican Set on Blocking Medical Marijuana in Kansas. Check out the link to his website…he cares about his career first…that is one reason to question if we need another one of these kind in government. His thinking isn’t new…It’s straight out of the 19th century!

Mr. Mitch Holmes is stuck in the 1920s. He must not believe in science because he is down right ignorant when it comes to medical marijuana and the thousands of patients that want it. He is afraid of REEFER MADNESS… Just another antiquated good old boy! Church on Sunday morning and NRA meetings on Sunday evening.

Don’t we want more in Kansas! This guy is blocking the Cannabis Compassion and Care Act because of his own personal feelings. Our Douche award goes to…. Mr. Holmes!

He is just trying to get elected by avoiding any conflicting issues facing Kansans. Does he really think that blocking this will help? It will help Big Pharma, which he puts all his cards in that hand, and it helps is election possibilities.

Governor Brownback is making sure that his view on religion comes first! What makes him right? We should not have to listen to a sermon during his political speeches! So much for freedom in Kansas… No wonder Kansas continues to lose population and tax money! We need change in Kansas! The Baby Boomers on down want change!

So much for separation of church and state. Governor Brownback, a rich, Kansas farmer, will not let HB2198/SB9 see the light of day. His speeches are littered with the word “god”. I don’t know if he is a politician or preacher! Sick Kansans will not be getting medical marijuana anytime soon! He has his own agenda, and it doesn’t consider that close to 70% of Kansans support legalized medical marijuana!

 Cancer patients, Crohn’s patients, and Diabetics Will NOT GET any support from Kansas Government! The State Government is NOT even going to consider this natural remedy, forcing many to use the harmful BIG PHARMA drugs! The use of Cannabis will continue in Kansas but Kansas will see NO benefit from taxes, unlike its neighbor, Colorado, which is enjoying millions of dollars in revenue, no elevated crime. Kansas is going to continue to lose population with this antiquated, right-wing, RED state! Too bad the POLITICIANS don’t listen to the people who elected them. A recent poll in Kansas, shows pro-legalization at nearly 70 percent! WHY WON”T HOUSE REPUBLICANS LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE!

Colorado’s pot policies provide an exit strategy for the nation.

Despite over 70 years of federal prohibition, tens of thousands of people throughout the nation are right now purchasing marijuana. But only in Colorado are these transactions legal, regulated, and taxed. The product being marketed is of known quality and potency. The seller is not a black-market dealer; rather, he or she is a paid employee of a licensed business explicitly authorized to engage in such transactions. The profits from these transactions bring fiscal benefits to the local community, not the black-market economy.

For decades public officials have warned that regulating cannabis production, sales, and consumption was a practical impossibility and that any significant change in marijuana policy would cause the sky to fall. Yet the initial experience in Colorado has shown these beliefs to be misplaced. State officials can regulate cannabis in a manner that satisfies the seller, the consumer, and the taxman. This common sense regulatory framework, otherwise known as legalization, is preferable to cannabis criminalization, a doomed-to-fail public policy which burdens taxpayers, encroaches upon civil liberties, engenders disrespect for the law, and disproportionately impacts lower income classes and ethnic minorities who bear the brunt of cannabis arrests and prosecutions. The time has come to replace marijuana prohibition with public policies that properly regulate the cannabis market and that allow for pot’s private consumption by adults in a manner similar to alcohol and tobacco.

Regulations, such as age restrictions for consumers and licensing requirements for commercial producers and merchants, are effective and proven alternatives to prohibition. For example, the public’s overall consumption of alcohol and tobacco, and young people’s use in particular, now stand at near-historic lows. These results have been achieved not by imposing blanket criminalization upon society, but by legalization, regulation, and public education. Colorado (and soon-to-be Washington) lawmakers are now applying these tried and true principles to cannabis. Public officials should welcome bringing these necessary and long-overdue controls to the cannabis market. A pragmatic regulatory framework that allows for the legal, licensed commercial production and retail sale of cannabis to adults but restricts its use among young people — coupled with a legal environment that fosters open, honest dialogue between parents and children about cannabis’ potential harms — best reduces the risks associated with the plant’s use or abuse. The ongoing criminalization of cannabis only compounds these risks.
